Bucking Bronc

Thursday July 3 2008

Drum hadnt been ridden in a few days because of the weather and I couldnt ride for a few days because I had been snowboarding and am waaay stiff and sore [so worth it though! - it was a great day out]

Mandy popped out after work to ride for me and Drum was quite antsy; head tossing, chomping his bit, not going forward nicely and finally snapped - head down going bronc straight towards the yards. I jumped up and ran towards him to stop him and Mandy pulled him up and leaded straight off!

We took his saddle off and moved it right back, it had shuffled forward onto his shoulder as the girth had been too loose. She got back on and trotted him in a few circles then called it a day. He looked much happier when we had fixed his saddle.

He needs plenty of work so hopefully I will find enough time to ride at least a few times a week when I get back to work [start Aug?] on the dairy farm.

Things to work on: picking up a contact, sharp off the leg, steering, consistency.
